ffbuild.PNGWith the release of Firefox 2 today, ‘Fox users the world over are enjoying tons of increased functionality with the browser’s new built-in features. However, quite a few of their favorite extensions don’t work by default, so some workarounds are necessary. One popular way to get older extensions to work in Firefox 2 is to use the Nightly Tester Tools extension. A few users are noticing that their newly installed browser shows the build number in the title bar, unaware that Nightly Tester Tools is the cause. Here’s how to make it go away:

First, thing’s first. If you’re not using the Nightly Tester Tools extension, then something else is causing the Build number to show up, and I can’t help you. But if you are, go to the Tools menu and then to Add-ons. Find the Nightly Tester Tools extension and click on the Options button.nttext.PNG

Make sure that you’re in the Titlebar section of the Nightly Tester Options. By default, the extension is set to use a custom title, and you can see that the custom title template is set to display the build number. If you would like to display some custom information in the title bar, there are several templates you can use. Otherwise, just remove the check mark to display the default title in the title bar.

The changes will be immediate. No restart of Firefox required!
